The Key to Salem, Oregon
May 9, 1953

The newspapers in Oregon read:  "America's Sweetheart," Mary Pickford, noted actress of the silent movie day, was a visitor in Salem and shown in the office of the governor at the capital being greeted by Kent Hotaling, boy governor for the youth legislation now in session, and Oregon's Governor Paul L. Patterson at right.  Later, Miss Pickford addressed a saving bond group at luncheon at the Marion hotel as part of her tour to encourage sale of U.S. savings bonds.
